| Dear friends and families, It has been an overwhelming few weeks as we endured the extreme conditions of Hurricane Ian. The damage to our community has been devastating and will take time to rebuild. We are grateful to report Valerie's House has made it through and was saved. We have power and minimal damage to the homes. We know several of you are barely trying to manage your own homes right now. For those of you who have been able to help our families, times thank you. Thank you to our volunteers and others in the Valerie's House family who delivered water & ice and helped care for our families.
We have several families who have lost everything. This, as we know, is a dire situation for those all around us, including many of you, reading this email right now.
We will continue to provide help to all who need it. We will use these funds to provide housing, repairs to homes that were salvaged, financial assistance to those who have lost their jobs, and grief support to those who are grieving the death of someone they love from Ian or grieving their home and school. We also know the trauma associated with going through the nightmare of the night of Hurricane Ian is hard to put into words.
